4/10 - Fish
You may think that you've already seen just about every creature that lives in the ocean thanks to wildlife series such as Blue Planet, but it turns out there really are plenty more fish in the sea. In fact, 28,000 species of fish have been discovered and some extraordinary ones have landed up in this film. Among them are the exotic-looking weedy sea dragons, whose courtship involves an elegant mirror dance that some less-than-graceful Strictly contestants could note. Then there's the aptly named convict fish that never quits its burrow once it has reached adulthood, leaving naturalists mystified by how or what it eats. Once again, Life stuns us with its amazing visuals: a shoal of flying fish soars into the air; a pair of sarcastic fringehead fish (yes, that's really what they're called) fight with alarming ferocity; and - with shades of Finding Nemo - a male clownfish tenderly cares for his unborn young, whose hearts we can see starting to beat. Simply breathtaking.
