Circle Of Drums features 3 great drum artists, Babatunde Olatunji, Muruga Booker, & SikiruAdepoju. Their drumming styles combine with vocal chants, ancient stringed instruments & synth drones to create a trance-like soundscape that brings to mind the experimental rock of the 1960's when eastern philosophies & cultures were informing western popular music.
Originally recorded in the 1990's but never commercially released, Circle Of Drums is a lost treasure -rediscovered & remastered by Chesky Records using special surround sound processing in keeping with their commitment to high-resolution audio. Its release is an homage to the group's elder statesman, Babatunde Olatunji, who passed away on April 6, 2003.
This release features a standard CD level. It also has a high definition 2-channel level & a high definition surround sound mix, which literally will turn your system into a Circle of Drums.

This is the 1st recording put out since Babatunde Olatunji passed away in 2003. Circle Of Drums radiates with the spirit of drumming. Three drum masters: Baba Olatunji, P-Funk/Weather Report percussionist Muruga Booker, & long time Olatunji collaborator Sikiru come together to explore the rhythm, tone, & over tones of the drum & voice. 
Not to be over looked, is the amazing mix by Chesky records. The mix brings the drums to life. It's like you are there. This CD plays on both regular CD players & SACD players. I do not own an SACD player but when I finally heard Circle Of Drums on a surround sound SACD system I was blown away. It was as if I was surrounded by a circle of drummers & the clarity was amazing. 
Circle Of Drums is perfect to dance to, trance to, meditate to, or just enjoy. Baba Olatunji will be missed.
