SystemTools Commander (SysCmd) is a Windows system administration utility designed to perform repetitive actions in a Microsoft Windows or Active Directory environment. Many of the standard Windows administration utilities lack any mechanism for performing the same action on multiple computers. When managing Active Directory, performing the same action repeatedly wastes valuable time. While scripting solutions can get around some of these problems, they still take time to learn and troubleshoot problems. SysCmd has a flexible design that allows it to be used in a variety of different ways, depending on how its used within an organization. The primary component in SysCmd is the task, which contains information on the user-defined actions to be performed. Projects can contain multiple tasks that are carried out in a particular sequence. SysCmd uses delimited text-based input files as the source of the data to be processed by any given task, providing for a simple and predictable framework to carry out a nearly unlimited number of batch procedures.

Active Directory Integration

SysCmd can be used to add, modify, and delete any number of Active Directory (AD) objects, including users, groups, computers, contacts, containers, and more. Nearly any AD attribute can be updated, including multi-valued attributes.

SysCmd also includes a special task for managing AD users, as well as user group assignments. Alternately, AD groups and their members can be managed directly as well. SysCmd even supports importing AD user photo information.

Terminal Server and RAS Support

SysCmdcan update any Terminal Server or RAS field directly through an AD or Windows NT task using special attribute symbol names. Terminal Server and RAS attributes can be contained in the same input file as other AD attributes.

Automatic Home Directory Creation

SysCmd uses a template-based system for automatic creation of both Standard and Terminal Server home directories when adding or modifying users.

SysCmd's home directory features include directory creation, share creation, and setting share and directory security settings.

Server/Computer Tasks

SysCmd currently supports the following server/computer tasks:
Remote system shutdown/reboot, including user-defined messages, timeouts, and other options.
Computer browser comment modification.

Windows NT/Client User and Group Tasks

Windows NT and client computer user and group tasks on Windows 2000,XP, Vista, and Windows 7 include:
Creating and modifying local user accounts, including password resets.
Creating and modifying local groups and members.
Copying groups and group members from one computer to another.
