Post Description
I am a big fan of the work of Dutch guitarist JP Stingray. Stingray is a world class guitarist, whose recordings are simple and straight-forward, resulting in a very lovable product I like to term as "blue collar blues/rock". This very honest style music is very enjoyable and always reminds me of just why it was that I started reviewing recordings in the first place, i.e. to do what I could to help promote music that may be from lesser known artists but is just plain good and most entertaining.
Like Stingray, his fellow countryman Willem Dyck would fall into the "blue collar blues/rock" category. His debut recording "Blues Smoke" is a very uncomplicated yet most enjoyable work, and like Stingray's recordings, reveals an electric guitarist of remarkable talent. Dyck is very much a blues/rock guitarist, who has the Texas blues/rock Strat sound without becoming a Stevie Ray clone.
