PES 2012 introduceert een aantal aanpassingen ten opzichte van zijn voorganger.
Zo is er het Active A.I.-systeem, dat de kunstmatige intelligentie van het spel
verbetert. Spelers zetten sneller een loopactie in en blijven dat ook volhouden
in plaats van halverwege weer te stoppen. Ook kruisen ze je soms om de ruimte
open te trekken. Bij de dode spelmomenten kun je deze keer zelf een speler
selecteren en bepalen waar je de bal wil hebben. De ingooiende speler of de
speler die de vrije trap neemt zal hier vervolgens rekening mee houden.
