Post Description
In this series Robson Green is going on a journey to find out how the North was built. How the great industries of coal, cotton and steel, and shipbuilding were born out of the landscape of the North. And how the character of the people who worked in these industries were shaped by the conditions they worked in.
It’s a journey into Britain’s past - to a time when our country was called ‘The Workshop of the World’. At one time incredibly, nearly half the world’s output of manufactured goods came from British mills, factories and workshops and most of that frantic activity took place in the North. Industry shaped the North, the north shaped Britain and in turn Britain changed the world.
Robson will experience first-hand the working practices of each industry and will reveal the compelling story of how the North was built.
